Welcome to Boomer & Senior Travel TV I’m Debbie Gerber. Today we’re in Florence, Italy having Pizza in the Flower Market.

We are in Florence today.  We are having lunch in a street side café. One of our favorite foods that we ate at the street cafes all over Italy was their Lasagna.

The noodles are so thin you can almost see through them. It is a very light lasagna. It has a meat sauce in it; the mozzarella is wet and moist and it has a ricotta cheese is in it as well. It was very good. It was one of our favorite things we ate there.

The other thing we still crave is the Italian Pizza. The crust is really moist in the center but crispy on the bottom. They put them into wood fire ovens so they were really crispy.

Some are thinner than others. Mine had a sauce on it, a very small amount of sauce on it and big chunks of wet mozzarella that melted into it.

The meat on it was in big strips instead of chopped like in the US.  It was really flavorful. It didn’t take many ingredients to have a lot of flavor.

We noticed at this restaurant that on either side of the sign were these little gargoyles. There were gargoyles on a lot of the buildings. They were really neat. Some were smaller some like statues. It reminded me of some of the gargoyles you see in the movies. They were fun to watch for.

It was the day of the flower market. It was very pretty, very fun. It reminds you of the real feel of Florence Italy. People enjoy it as they pass by.

People enjoy the food, flowers and art. We could have sat and watched the flower market for hours.

People came and went. People bought plants and carried them home. Most of them today were potted ones. People were shopping for plants for their apartments.

There was also an art show on the other side of the street; a show of someone’s art. It was a photography art show.

We watched people come and go. We got a feel for being in Florence. There was a relaxed and happy atmosphere.
